Railroad Days

We went to Railroad Days.  We were able to go to Lauritzen Gardens Gardens, The Joslyn Art Museum, the Durham Museum, and the Union Pacific History Museum.  It was too hot to really stay at the gardens so we left soon after getting there.  It was fun to go see all of the museums, but it made for a really long day.  The Durham was definitely the best one.  It is an old train station with the ticket booths and the whole waiting area the way it was back then.  There were trains you could walk through to see what they were like, and lots of fun activities to do.

Sewing Project

Aurora's piano teacher is having a baby girl in August. While we were at Walmart this morning Aurora found a bear that she wanted to get for the baby.  Once we were home she asked if she could have fabric for a blanket for the bear. Just last night I found a site on pinterest of sewing projects for beginners, so I suggested that she make a tote bag to put the bear in instead of just wrapping it up in a piece of fabric.  It was the easiest bag ever.  There was very little cutting, no measuring, and it took us an hour to make.  If I had been sewing it by myself I think it would have maybe taken 30 minutes, but with it being her first time using my sewing machine I had to go over everything with her to make sure she knew what to do.  It turned out really cute.  The bag is a little big, but I am sure her piano teacher will be able to use it. Who doesn't have a need for a fabric bag sometimes, right? Aurora did a great job, some of the lines are not straight, but nobody sews a straight line the first time. We just might have to make more of these, great for a gift bag.

Girl Scout Swim Party

One of Aurora's friends is a girl scout.  They were having a swim party at the girl scout camp, and she invited Aurora to come with her.  The girls had a lot of fun.  They had hot dogs for dinner then went swimming.  All of the girls had to take a swim test before getting into the pool.  They had three groups; the first could not swim well and had to stay in the shallow end, the second could go in to a section of the pool that was a little deeper, and the third could swim anywhere.  They let the girls from the first two groups jump off the diving board in the deep end if they had life jackets on.  Aurora was in the second group.  the first thing she did was get a life jacket and jump off the diving board.  She loves to be in the water and swimming.  She had a great time and was nice and tired when she got hope.

Happy 4th of July

This year the neighbors invited us to do our fireworks with them in front of their house.  Aurora had fun playing with he kids. They did sparklers and we lit sky lanterns (they were so pretty), and of course I have no pictures of those.  Here are some pictures of everyone hanging out, lighting fireworks, and some of the fireworks.
We hope everyone had a great and safe 4th of July!

It was a full moon, and I just thought it looked cool so I had to take a picture of it.
